Hello Rita

This is an interesting question, one that happens once a person has started to open up their spiritual faculties. However, in the first instance may I dwell upon the words Spirit Guide? There is a lot of confusion and sometimes misunderstanding about what spiritual guides and helpers do, or do not. Some people believe they act upon the whims and desires of the sensitive medium or psychic who are here in the World of Earth. The reality is Spirit Guides are very highly developed spiritual people. They are free from the limitations of the physical world we reside in, and support, help and guide our own spiritual development in the quest for peace, understanding, growth and fulfilment of the whole of humanity.

I have heard instances when the less-developed people give reference to spirit guides as if they were a sideshow at a fair-ground attraction. The work of these leaders of light is to help, and nurture the divine gifts we possess and help to open up the horizons of knowledge and understanding. Each of our Spirit Guides conducts a special purpose, each with individual talents, capacity and comprehension on supporting humanity to reach its divine potential. The spiritual guides you have interact naturally, but allow you the freedom of your own physical experiences of life, spiritual consciousness, realisation and experiences.

I am an old fashioned spiritual medium. Therefore, the word Angel I believe is often misinterpreted and in more recently times, used in a way, that often causes confusion with Victorian and Edwardian images. Nonetheless my own personal view is more in-line with the classic American drama and later film of 1946 “It's a Wonderful Life” produced and directed by Frank Capra and loosely based on the short story “The Greatest Gift” written by Philip Van Doren Stern. James Stewart plays the part of George Bailey, a man whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody played by Henry Travers. Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched and the contributions he has made to his community. It is a personal choice: My spiritual experience draws me to an angelic personage being more like Clarence, but the choice is a personal one, and for this reason I feel you should draw up your own interpretation.

For becoming closer or more aware of your Spiritual Guides or Angels I would suggest that you seek to unfold your own spirituality through personal awareness, and work on building your capacity. I also suggest that you go to a local Spiritualist Church or Centre in your area, and contact a reputable spiritual medium with experience and the skills to help you draw closer to your spiritual companions, guides and friends. I suggest that you have an open mind, allow the link between the World of Light to open, making it easier for those who reside within the realms of light to make a closer connection with you through an open-mind.

It would appear that you have started to move in the right direction. Nothing is guaranteed, but be open and positive. Perhaps you may see those who you love through the portal of your mind, once your individual gifts open wider. You may also see through the landscape of your dreams, with your near-death experience this may be an easier link between you and your spiritual guides and helpers.

In Peace and Light - Stephen
