Everyone has painful problems. There is no reason, however, to simply wallow in the pain. There are simple and powerful ways to heal. One of the easiest and most powerful ways to create healing psychic change is through reciting affirmations. According to Louise Hay, an affirmation is a positive statement that you repeat over and over. Affirmations always are in the present tense, as if the change you want has already happened. Affirmations work for any area in which you would like psychic change.
Select which area of your psyche you would like to change. You might want to get more confidence or reduce your dependency on a bad habit. Consider in which area it would do you the most good to heal and focus on that area.
Write an appropriate affirmation. For example, an appropriate affirmation for gaining more confidence is very simply "I am self-confident." If you are trying to quit smoking, an appropriate affirmation is "I breathe in only what is good. I no longer need to smoke, because I have better things to breathe." Make sure to phrase the affirmation in the present tense, as if the change has already happened. For example, don't say "I am becoming happy," or "I will be happy." Say "I am happy."
Find a relaxed place and time to say your affirmation. A great time is while still in bed after just waking up or during a peaceful walk in a park.
Breathe deeply and recite the affirmation, allowing yourself to feel the positive emotional effects of the affirmation.
Repeat the affirmation on a daily basis. You will soon begin to notice the positive effects in your life.
