*MEDITATION: How to Unlock the Hidden Doors of the Mind

Being able to relax enough to access the subconscious can help you in many ways. Locked in the back of our minds can be traumas from our past that hold us back, talents waiting to be tapped into, dreams waiting to be explored, answers to current problems, or simply being able to unwind from a stressful day. One of the best ways to unlock the hidden doors of the mind is through meditation.

Set aside at least half an hour to practice your meditation session. Meditating doesn't have to be difficult or time-consuming, but 30 minutes of uninterrupted time is optimal.

Go to a quiet room and close the door, turn off your phone, and get into comfortable clothing that will allow you to breathe easily. If desired, you can light incense, a candle, and/or listen to soothing music while you meditate.

Sit in a comfortable chair or lie down on your bed and close your eyes. Breathe in slowly through your nose then let it out slowly through pursed lips. (Imagine blowing on a cup of hot coffee.) Do this 5 to 10 times or until you start to feel relaxed.

Focus your attention on each area of your body, starting with your feet. Consciously relax your muscles from your toes all the way to the top of your head. This may take several minutes until you are completely relaxed and ready to tap into your subconscious.

Think of a question you'd like an answer to, or some area of your life you'd like guidance on. Allow any words, images, scenes, sounds, numbers, colors, and so forth to pass through your mind. No matter how odd anything seems, let it float through your mind and make a mental note of anything that stands out.

Allow yourself to stay in this relaxed, meditative stage for as long as you'd like. You can often tell when a meditation session is ending since the images in your mind may start to fade. However, feel free to remain in this state for as long as you'd like as it's a wonderful stress reducer.

To come out of your meditation simply count from 1 to 10, breathing deeply through your nose and out through your mouth as you did before. Open your eyes, stretch a bit, and sit or stand up slowly to avoid any dizziness. Blink your eyes a few times and shake out your hands to get the energy flowing again.

Taking your notebook and pen, write down anything you remember from your meditation session. Write down the symbols you saw, any messages you may have received, and how you felt.

Look over the information you got to see how it pertains to your question or information you were seeking. If things don't seem clear you can use a dream dictionary to find the meanings of any symbols you saw. See if this offers you more clarity.

Practice meditation daily or at least a few times a week to become proficient at getting into a relaxed state and unlocking the doors of your mind more easily. In time you may be able to gather information and guidance on just about any situation you desire.
