Article: How to Make a Meditation Gift Basket
Offered by:Jennifer Claerr

Whether your special someone loves to meditate or has been under a lot of stress lately, she will appreciate receiving a meditation gift basket. There are options for creating a personalized meditation basket to fit every budget. Whatever you decide to spend, be sure to include as many organic, renewable, sustainable and natural products as possible. Also be sure to ask the recipient if she's willing to accept second-hand items. If she is, you can help her to protect the planet while saving some of your own hard-earned cash.

Find a basket made from an organic material, such as bamboo or willow. If you want to lower the expense of the meditation gift, purchase a second-hand basket from a thrift shop or weave one yourself. Line the basket with some organic or recycled cloth. Attach a simple cloth bow to the front of the basket with wire.

Look for some scented candles. Favor beeswax and soy pillar candles in soothing scents, such as lavender, vanilla, eucalyptus, peppermint or sage. Also look for some votive, tea light or floating candles to decorate the gift basket. Consider adding some candle holders to the basket, as well.

Find some inexpensive meditation CDs. These could be music CDs, guided meditation CDs or self hypnosis CDs. Also look for small books on Zen meditation, or books of affirmations or quotes, as well as meditation DVDs.

Add some natural incense to the basket. Choose scents such as frankincense, myrrh and sandalwood. Also consider adding an incense burner made from stone or wood. Another option is to add a traditional Native American smudge stick made from sage, cedar and sweet grass along with a stone bowl to burn it in.

Visit your local grocery or health food store for meditative teas such as green, white and herbal tea. Select organic teas that include sage, lavender, jasmine, chamomile, spearmint and cinnamon.

Look for any additional meditation supplies and accessories that will fit in your basket. These may include a zafu cushion, a miniature meditation garden, a Tibetan singing bowl and prayer wheel, mala beads, meditation balls or rose quartz gemstones. Other items to add to the basket include oils and lotions scented with natural essential oils, as well as all-natural bath salts and scented soaps. Arrange the items in a decorative pattern inside the basket.
