A Call to Prophecy

A Call To Prophecy

There is much controversy among different religions regarding ‘psychics’ and ‘mediums.’ Throughout my practice of both, I have been faced with many different reactions from the outside world. Most negative reactions or accusations that I have been subjected to were from those who stated that they follow the Christian religion.

Many Christians have been taught that such practicing such things is conferring with “demons".

I would like to clarify this for the many who know that spirit is all around us, yet fear that if they were to acknowledge it that it may be sinful or wrong. Perhaps some are afraid they are turning their back on their religious teachings. In the different religious traditions around the world there are references to our ability to commune with Angels, Guides, Loved ones and teachers in “heaven” or the “spirit realm”.

I would like to attempt to clear up any misconception about the teachings of prophecy and healing. In the New International Version of the Christian Bible, you will find the following scripture:

1 Corinthians 14:1-5

Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues

“1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men; but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. 3 But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.”

Looking at this passage we read that the expectation is that we will use the church to pass on information, guidance and messages from God.

Another favorite passage of mine is when the Christ-ed One said “All this I do, you too will do, and more” Who was he talking to? Were his disciples the only disciples to ever be? Did he think that there would be only 12? If so, why bother teaching them at all, for eventually once the disciples died then the teachings would be lost. Therefore, broken down, we are all meant to be teachers, healers and prophets. For that is ability is within us all. Unfortunately, it is a part that has been stifled by many churches and society for years.

For many years in my own life, I ignored this “call”. I tried to ignore it, to avoid it. It would make me ‘different’, I thought. Now after over a decade of listening to my truth; of following the ‘voice within’, I find that in my life I am more devout, more pious, more loving, kind and helpful to mankind than I have ever been.

Ask yourselves this; if communing with Spirit is wrong then how is it that it brings hope, peace and love to others? Is that wrong? Is that sinful? I am closer to God than ever.
Why? Because God does reside in us all, and in tapping into that source of information that exists in the Universe, it reminds us all that life continues, that love continues, and that there is ever -present guidance from the Source of all Goodness.

The scriptures were created at a time when they were needed, for whatever purposes they served. They addressed particular issues that existed during the time that they were written.

However, all we need to know about how to live a better life, how to be a better human being, how to be closer to God is readily available to us all, if we are only willing to listen for the answer to the questions.

Therefore, I say unto you, that the bible does not condemn mediumship, it demands it! It is our responsibility to ask questions, to seek guidance from our guides and messengers and to go out into the world and share it with others.
